Code of conduct
Trans Can Sport aims to create a safe space for everyone to enjoy. We will not allow any discrimination or prejudice on grounds of race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability or age.
We acknowledge that there are many different ways to be trans, and that everyone’s experience of gender identity is different. We won’t ask you to prove anything or judge you on whether you’re ‘trans enough’. In return, we expect the same from our participants. We all make mistakes with things like pronouns. When this happens it’s fine to apologise, correct yourself and move on. However, Trans Can Sport will not tolerate any discriminatory behaviour, and anyone who we believe to be acting in this way will be banned. If you have any issues or concerns, you can talk in confidence with Marquita or Rory in person or by email at email@example.com.
Safety and security
You attend all activities at your own risk, and if you have an issue with an instructor or facility you should talk to them directly. Trans Can Sport can’t be responsible for accidents or injuries, or loss or damage to property.
We ask all new participants to complete a health questionnaire before they can start booking sessions. It’s important that you answer this as honestly as possible so that we can do our best to accommodate any requirements you may have. We keep all questionnaires private, and only disclose relevant information to specific instructors if it will help ensure your safety during a particular session. If we need to, we'll ask you for a doctor’s note from your GP. We’ll let you know when you can start booking activities.
We don’t allow drop-ins so you need to pre-book all of the sessions you want to attend. You need to book each session individually. We usually open bookings a week in advance, but paid activities often open earlier.
You need to book your own sessions - we can’t take bookings on behalf of others. If your friends or family want to attend a session with you, they’ll need to send their own booking email. We’ll send a booking confirmation to each person.
We have waiting lists with 3 spaces for each session. If you try to book an activity that’s fully booked, we’ll add you to the waiting list and contact you if a space becomes available. Please let us know if you want to be removed from the waiting list so we can add someone else.
If you need to cancel a session, we ask that you give us at least 24 hours’ notice. This will give us chance to contact anyone on our waiting list to fill the space.
If participants don’t attend sessions they’ve booked, or cancel with short notice, it often means their space can’t be filled in time. If you regularly cancel with short notice or don’t attend sessions you’re booked in for, Trans Can Sport can limit or block you from booking sessions.
Drugs and alcohol
The use of drugs or alcohol is strictly prohibited before and during all Trans Can Sports sessions. We will refuse access to any participant we believe to be under the influence of any substance.
We can’t refund payments that are made either by bank transfer or via our GoFundMe page. If your payment is for a paid activity, we’ll allow you to transfer the payment to another activity or person, but we do require 3 days’ notice to do this. If we cancel a session you've paid for, we’ll give you credit towards another session or activity which will be valid for 12 months.
You can take pictures and videos during our sessions as long as you have the permission of all the other participants. If a participant doesn’t want to be photographed or filmed, please respect their wishes. Trans Can Sport may take pictures or videos to share on our Facebook page, but we’ll always let you know in advance so you can opt out if you wish.
Trans Can Sport want to keep as many sessions free or as low cost as possible. We rely on funding, grants and the generosity of donations to be able to do this. You can use our GoFundMe page to make a donation and help us to continue running our current activities and start new ones. We also use donations to help our coaches get the training and qualifications they need to lead Trans Can Sport sessions.
